Thanks to GardenPower’s innovative SmartGuardTM technology, garden lighting transformers are now safer and easier to use.
Available on the GardenPower range of All-Weather transformers, SmartGuardTM continuously monitors the output power for overloads or short circuits and extends lamp life with a soft start function.
SmartGuardTM provides four important features which improve garden lighting safety and reduce maintenance costs.
• SmartGuardTM continuously monitors the transformer output for overload conditions and reacts instantly if there is a problem. Overloading can occur when low wattage lamps are accidentally replaced with higher wattage lamps (which causes regular transformers to overheat). SmartGuardTM immediately detects an overload and controls the output current to maintain a safe operating temperature.
• If low voltage garden wiring is shorted, SmartGuardTM responds immediately to prevent dangerous high currents, melted wiring and overheated transformers. On detecting a short, SmartGuardTM controls the fault current to a safe level and disables the transformer output if the short persists.
• SmartGuardTM features a tri-colour status light allowing problems to be determined over the phone reducing the requirement for on-site diagnostic visits. Reset is achieved by simply repowering the transformer.
• When power is first applied, SmartGuardTM soft-starts the transformer and low voltage lamps by applying power gradually. This controlled start-up increases lamp life and eliminates in-rush currents. This prevents nuisance tripping of circuit breakers.
GardenPower’s SmartGuardTM is an integral part of GardenPower All-Weather IP67 transformers from the 50 watt & 100 watt LED units through to the 200 watt and 300 watt Halogen Light models.
